The latest edition of Ashampoo Snap, version 6, has added a multitude of features that have flesh out the screenshot program, but there are still some unaddressed issues from the last version-the overabundant pop-ups are still too much. Time-lapse video and interval snapshot features are other useful tools in creating video tutorials. Snap 6 also allows for video and audio recording (via microphone), making production of video screencasts a cinch. Once captures are created, you can make changes such as adding elements, resizing, or rotating through an image editor. If you are a power user, I feel FastStone Capture and BB Flashback Express will be a better fit for you because Give Ashampoo Snap a try if you are a non-power user and see how you like it. While I personally like FastStone Capture for screenshot taking and BB Flashback Express for video recording, for non-power users having screenshot and video recording features built into one tool is very handy, especially since Ashampoo Snap has a fully featured image editor. For a $9.95 program Ashampoo Snap is surprisingly feature filled: It has multiple ways to take screenshots, including scrolling window, active window, rectangle freehand, and freehand it can record videos and has a fully featured built-in image editor.
